Occasionally due to the cutting process there will be some residual pieces caught between the woven shards of the mat, to avoid puppy ingesting the loose pieces it is best to shake it off before using.

The grass shards are woven onto the mat so won't fall out unless pulled intentionally. If your puppy is pulling and ingesting the grass mat then you will need to take it away. Most dog's usually have a lot of other toys and treats to keep them occupied but each dog is different and will take some trialing to find out what their behaviour is like.
